The Deadpool movies are the best and most faithful to the comics. The wolverine movies are disappointing as well. If you have little affinity for the X-men men via comics or animated series then they are not worth watching ahead of the cavalcade of decent films, books or comic books you could be experiencing instead.2.) 2004 New X-Men isn't a sequel to the Morrison run. It just mixes that group of students with the New(-er) Mutants (the one with Surge, Prodigy, etc.), it's not "essential" but it's pretty similar in spirit to the (not so) New Mutants (the one with Dani Moonstar, Warlock, etc.) and Generation X (the Lobdell one) so it's worth reading, I think.
