You can hide from the Helicopter event. I've done it a few times. You have to be inside the entire time the Helicopter is in the area and you cannot be seen at any point from the outside. Being in view from an open window could spell your doom. Making any noise can also alert the Helicopter to your presence.If it spotted you, you'll always hear it near. If it didn't spot you it may pass/hover over you, but if it doesn't stay it didn't see you. Last time I successfully hid there would be periods where I couldn't hear it at all about every hour or so.
