Jan 3, 2024 · Review of Pikes Peak Cog Railway. Reviewed January 3, 2024 via mobile. A fun adventure! We bought our tickets for a 2p trip up to the summit only a couple of days in advance. The online buying process was easy, with seat assignments, and the instructions for arrival were clear. Parking was easy, so long as you followed the instructions.
However if you don't want to make the drive or hike, I think the cog railway is an excellent way to reach the peak. The overall trip took around 3 to 3.5 hours. Read more. Written May 29, 2021. You can walk from the hotel to the childrens railway - it's fairly close, maybe a 5-10 minute walk. That will link you close to the Cog. Fun experience but watch your step. Went to the summit of Pikes Peak on the cog railway. The new trains are very smooth but seats are thin. It was recommended for couples to sit opposite each other for maximum viewing and this worked out well. We reached the summit and had about 40 minutes.The red cog is to and from Vitzau, the blue cog is to and from Arth-Goldau. We took the red up, which offered absolutley spectacular views of the lake, mountains and countryside, it was honestly breath-taking. Sit on the left as this is the best side without a doubt. In general, grab a seat on the left side of the train when going up, as you get better views of the surrounding mountains on that side.
