Ninja Trader has an excellent charting platform and low margin rates. The downside is to take advantage of the full charting software you need to give them $1,000. Another disadvantage of ninja Trader is you only get two free withdrawals per month and after that they charge you plus there is a minimum of $250 per withdrawal. I'd recommend Tradovate to any new futures trader as long as they can be smart enough to not overleverage their account with the low commissions. There are cheaper platforms (SierraCharts) there are better DOM's (Jigsaw Daytradr), but NinjaTrader's advantage is the programming. It is a standalone, multi-threaded, standalone platform that connects with CQG and Rithmic as well as Tradovate and Interactive Brokers. daytradr includes all of the popular plugins and IQFeed features.
Free platform. Comparable if not cheaper commissions than AMP. For scalpers i would say tradovate is the way to go if you get the commission free trading package. Other than that the platform is pretty laggy compared to quantower , ninja trader etc, but it is a good starter platform. I’ll look into this.

The futures commissions on tda are nasty indeed. ~$5 per contract round trip. Terrible. But I like the interface and I think using ActiveTrader is easier and more intuitive than most other platforms I’ve tried. I’m currently trading MES on IB’s TWS platform and only paying about a buck per contract round trip.
