I wonder how my turbodiesel fares with your turbodiesel (W123 only) in terms of fuel economy. Any other things I could do to increase fuel mileage? Best I could do was 27MPG.

If all you want is fuel economy, swap in a 2.3L with a 5sp and some high gears, youll get more MPG then the diesel and be a helluva lot cheaper and eaiser. If you want power a V8 is your best option.

10 posts · Joined 2009. #9 · Mar 12, 2010. 4-speed manual mpg. My '83 240D with a 4 speed gets 28-30mpg in mixed driving. The best I have ever gotten was 34.5 mpg. I usually count on 32mpg for highway only. The manual transmaission makes all the difference for the 240D. Many things effect MPG.
