STR Magus needs Sentinel for heavy armor and compensating Reflex saves (you need 10 DEX). There is no lot of reasons for Laughing Shadow to go for 2H weapon, because flat bonus from Cascade compensate difference between d8 and d12 weapon. 1.STR-based Magus: Str 15+2 (Racial Bonus) Dex 14. Con 14 (13 if Eldritch Scion, bump at level 8) Int 16 (13 if Eldritch Scion) Wis 10. Cha 8 (15 if Eldritch Scion, bump at level 12) Increase Str every 4th level. If you don't want to dump Cha, leave it at 10 and drop Int to 15, then bump it at level 16.

Monk magus is already strong (well monk anything is strong) due to the sheer defensive power monk offers as a base class. When making a Spellstrike, the character can activate a Monk ability with a cost of one action that also requires/utilizes a Strike. This Strike starts at the second Multiple Attack Penalty.
