Tarkov tends to hit new players hard and fast on their first 20 or so Raids. While Scavs are a great learning tool and utility for gaining finances in Tarkov, they shouldn't be a measure for your skill in fights or the only character you play while experiencing Tarkov. Tarkov is very likely some peoples first experience with true loss.If they're 5 man in general they are usually trash players. Obviously there's exceptions but most good players are running 2-3 players max. And that is the case on Factory early wipe but last wipe I encountered some 5 man scav farmers and let's just say they weren't very good.Now not as many people needed to. So early wipe they spawn in scavs early to keep wait times lower. As the wipe progresses people will stop or only scav once or twice a session. This means there are more open slots for scavs and you spawn later in the raid and scavenge the remains. About 5 to 1 ratio. I don't find PMC raids to be much fun compared to scav runs. Scav runs allow to to not worry about quests or any kind of progression in the game. They allow me to play however I feel like playing at that time without any care in the world. All my looting is done via scav, not my PMC. Posted January 8, 2022. The main issue I can see with current scav violence penalties is that it's mainly a small, cumulative long-term penalty (reputation), with no substantial short-term penalty. Most new(er) players are not going to have a high survival rate, so scav runs are going to likely be necessary to help supplement their income. Scav runs can also be useful for learning new maps, as opposed to using offline mode. I like to start a play session with a scav run simply to get into the Tarkov mindset after likely playing other games.
