And yes you can fall from the bridge so I recommend building fences on the edge. IIRC, you can get some wire by foraging, but there's a lot of items there that can't be foraged. Might be that you don't need the fishing magazine with traits/profession. I don't understand why the screwdriver is essential. Notched plank can be made with a knife or chipped stone, and the plan isn't to start dismantling furniture any time soon.
