Removed the old one easily by removing the retaining pin and sliding the drive shaft off the shaft which exists from the bower. I placed the new drive shaft onto the shaft coming out of the blower aligning the woodruff key as per the manual.With the model 49 snow thrower - single stage, and deep heavy snow it was not uncommon to break 2 or 3 in clearing a single storm. Those were 1/4"-20 x 1 1/2" with a nylok nut and the bolt - $0.50 or .60 per each shear pin. No big deal.
