Fraternity and Sorority Life. As of December 19, 2021, Penn State Altoona no longer recognizes any social fraternities and sororities. This decision is the result of a five-year examination of the sustainability of these organizations. The decision was not punitive, but proactive with the realistic consideration of the groups' success.Councils The Interfraternity, Multicultural Greek, National Pan-Hellenic, and Panhellenic Councils serve a unique role in the fraternity and sorority community at Penn State. These governing bodies determine policies, procedures, rules, and standards for the fraternity and sorority chapters that fall under their purview. There are currently four governing councils at the University Park campus.
