I replaced it because I had a constant overheating problem whenever idling, which in Houston traffic happens quite frequently. No problems at all when driving, just idling. Flushed out the whole system probably 4 or 5 times. Then replaced the thermostat, radiator, radiator cap, water pump, all hoses and fan clutch. See if there is flow through the hoses. Run the heater fan full blast. See if there is flow through the heater core.
