As long as I feed singles all was well and I shot the gun very well (for me). Problem occurred when I feed it doubles. When I shot the first shell the second feed AND SHOT automatically (i.e. full auto). The Trap Model was returned to the general listing by 1954 as the Target Grade. The Skeet Grade was discontinued after 1954. ****In 1974, Ithaca tried a design change in the shell stop system, which proved to be faulty. So, last year I picked up a used Ithaca 12ga that appears to be an old police shotgun. Got it off gunbroker and it is sold to me as a Model 37. The barrel has factory rifle sights and says Model 37 on it. The receiver is devoid of the traditional Ithaca game scene. The serial number is MAG-870042xxx. The gun DOES NOT slam-fire.
