I have a patient who got craniospinal XRT, admitted to ICU for anemia secondary to GI bleed. Etiology is thought to be radiation colitis. EGD showed a small antral ulcer (really much of nothing). No colonscopy, and no RBC tagged study done. Radiation therapy is used to treat more than one million cancer patients each year. Yet, funding for radiation oncology research is limited. ROI advances research and education so that patients with cancer can receive high-quality, innovative radiation treatment that enhances their quality of life and ultimately, saves more lives.

If I had to choose it all over again, I would choose radonc, because my choice was made 15 years ago. If I were choosing NOW, I would choose Heme/Onc in a heartbeat over radonc. No doubt.
