I do love my Nova though, the only down sides to me are the safely and action release are awkward compared to the 500 and the foregrip on the Nova feels super light weight and cheap.

Benelli will have better quality control, Mossberg has more aftermarket support and parts/barrels will be easier to find. Get the one you like more or the best deal. The Mossberg 500 is a very durable and reliable shotgun. It is very easy to field strip and clean. Lot's of accessories and barrel options.

I do own and shoot a Mossberg M590A1, Remington 870 HD, and a Winchester 1300 Defender - all are fine SGs and work well. I prefer the higher shell capacity on the 590 as well as other aspects such as the ambi thumb ...

Oh, just on a note StarLynx, if you've got a Nova with a 3" chamber, it's either a slug gun (which by the way, you shouldn't be shooting shot through a rifled barrel), or it's a 20 Gauge.
