Dex goes well with every class in this game. So definitely lean towards dex if you ask me. Gives you more flexibility. Arcane/dex is op. int/dex is op. Quality has always been op if you build right. Faith/dex also op. Str can go with anything too but for the magic classes benefitting from faster cast speeds from dex. It makes dex so viable.

At most levels, pure str or dex gets higher raw damage output if you're specializing on a particular weapon type, but the difference isn't huge. That type of build is usually great in most souls games but for elden ring it would be better to focus on one over the other. Early on focus on 1 or the other.

However, it is true that the soft caps for single stat scaling aren't until 80, so it's usually more efficient in terms of damage per point to do pure dex or pure str.
